Randy, your analysis is spot-on. We - as humans, as Americans, as military personnel and veterans, as leaders at any level - must avoid the lazy choice between two extremes and instead strive to discern the best middle road that leverages the best inputs and opinions from various options to inform decisions that will have the greatest opportunity for success.

Great blog post Randy. Civilian professors brought something special to my USNA experience and it would be a shame to lose them. Yes, tenure can allow for a few cases of professors “coasting along” but that’s the case everywhere. In the government/military, where administrations can change every 4 years, it’s critical to have protections (like tenure) in place.
